We pot tubers in quality soil mix and give them a 1-2 month head start, so the plants are ready to put in your garden immediately. These dahlia plants are about 6-18″ in height, timed so most will start blooming in July. The blooms continue through the end of October. Large selection of sizes and colors. Cash or check only.
DAHLIA SHOW – August 18-19, at the Goodman Community Center, 149 Waubesa St., Madison, WI. This is half a mile from Olbrich Gardens. FREE admission. We are open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Sunday at 2 p.m., we give away all the blooms, so bring a vase or bucket to carry away some beautiful and FREE cut blooms for your table.
If you are a beginning dahlia grower and want to enter your dahlias in our Novice division, arrive Saturday between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. and a club member will help you to “stage” your blooms. Just bring one or more dahlia blooms in a bucket. Each stem should have a single bloom (remove any others) and at least the top pair of leaves; you can remove lower leaves. We have the vases and everything else you’ll need on-site at no cost. There is also no charge to enter.
If you just want to be a spectator, come during any of our opening hours to enjoy hundreds of amazing dahlias of all sizes, colors and forms. Don’t forget your camera! On Sunday, bring your own container and take home some of the hundreds of beautiful blooms we will give away at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Show participation and admission are FREE! A club meeting takes place at the end of the show on Sunday. All welcome.
